HAPPY BIRTHDAY DR. RICHARD TIA

A smile on the sun’s face
The day she states her case
The much awaited moment
Where there exists no torment

For on this day, fire showeth remorse
Burns wouldn’t be her just cause
Fire robes in a servant’s apparel
And poses on the cake’s candle

We have journeyed for 365 days
Ignoring all other nights and days
Just to wish you a happy birthday
On this momentous and special day

TIA this is Africa
TIA a mighty son of Africa
World changers are but a handful
And gladly you stand out of the few

A toast to all of Shawn Montgomery
Who lit the fire for which we make merry
To Lateef, Kabila and Adei
Who inspired you to dare

To the man, Mr. Mathias
Who for your education, would join the martyrs
And to the mother somewhere we don’t know
Who carved you into what we now know

And so with one accord with sing
Of the tidings birthdays bring
Praying and wishing you a longer life
Devoid of all discord and strife

I DREAM OF A WORLD!

I dream of a world
A perfect utopian world
A world full of love
A world like the one above
A world of equality
A world of absolute quality
Where there is neither rich nor poor
With content hearts, not wanting more
A world without crime
Where the youth don’t do drugs in their prime
A world of no tears
Why shed tears when there are no fears?
A world of boundless possibilities
One of abounding opportunities
A world where colours don’t matter
Where there is enough bread and butter
A world where security isn’t a necessity
For peace guards the big cities
Happy people all over town
No one fighting over the crown
They say such a world doesn’t exist
Indeed! Such a world might never exist
And that’s why I’ve been wondering
What stops us from dreaming??

ACROSS THE BRIDGE!

She lives at the other side of the bridge
A place for the elite and rich
Where the kids have a chauffeur
And they get whatever they prefer

We eat little on our side of the bridge
And grow wishing we were sons of the rich
The wealthiest here can’t match their chauffeur
So we barely get what we prefer

Woe unto us when we’re late for school
They come late and the teacher’s are cool
We do better academically
They employ us eventually

I know it’s not fair
But I don’t really care
For this story is about her
And not what is unfair

I was a benefactor of her dad’s scholarship
Yet I couldn’t boast of her friendship
In her eyes, I was invisible
Damn! That feeling was terrible!

The plan was to find a common interest
I stalked her on facebook, twitter and pinterest
I found out she was a big fan of poetry
And that knowledge unearthed my prowess in poetry

There isn’t a definite time for writing a poem
But it took a week to cook her, the magic poem
I entitled it, the Breakthrough
For it was like a master’s brew

Amazing! That’s what she called the poem
It turned out I wasn’t only good at chem.
In no time, I got my first kiss from Rose
And to the other side of the bridge, I arose!!
