THIS STORY!

Some stories are better left untold
This is not one of those stories
This story shall be told
This story is being told
Pay attention to this story
This story is a true story
This story is one of love
It shall not end well
This story is not funny
Nevertheless, you cannot help but laugh
No one knows this story
But everyone will know this story
This story does not make sense
This story is intense
This story is a mystery

You shall not be satisfied with this story
This story will lure you and leave you in the dark
This story shall whet your appetite and starve you
This story shall be narrated by a dumb man
The deaf shall hear this story
The blind shall read this story
This story will shake the pillars of history
This story is a profound story
You shall not understand this story
This story is of a strange setting
The Bermuda triangle; Amazon rainforest; the Milky Way
This story has no title
But call it ‘This Story’
Quit waiting for this story
This story just got told!!

THE HAPPY FRIEND

Once I had a happy friend
Twice you wrong him
Thrice he forgives you
He always wore a smile
He made the worse look better
An epitome of an optimist
A trait I still can’t fathom

I perceived he had a perfect life
Until he narrated his story;
His mother died at his birth
And his father unlawfully remanded
For the first time I saw his sad face
‘Daddy did nothing wrong,
He only scolded a Richman’s son’
For that he’s been away for five years?
And there I stood in dismay
Wondering how he still smiles

So I gathered courage
And asked of his little secret
As usual, he smiled
Tapped me on the shoulder
And said ‘it could have been worse’
In five words he brainwashed me
And I too became a happy boy
For whatever that life serves you,
Just know ‘it could have been worse’

OUR GHANA!!

I’ve heard tales of Nkrumah’s Ghana
Her beauty and abundant riches
I’ve heard of her renowned honour
And her glittering golden beaches
Lo! Her fountain of honey
The pleasure and the sweetness
No room for melancholy
Utmost joy, the people harness
I’ve heard rumours of her fall
People say she lost her garment
The garment that made her stand tall
And so till date, she laments
Others attest she did loose her garment
But to men of indiscipline and corruption
Hope and aspiraton filled that raiment
Its loss then blurred her vision

We are the silver lining in this cloud
So we vow to make our mother proud
Gold and silver we do have
Talk less, the unity and the love
For as the sun sets, we argue and diss
But by sunrise, we all at peace
Through the blood and toil of our fathers
Amidst the sweat and tears of our mothers
We owe to the land of our birth
A certain and sure rebirth
In our own ways, let us pay our dues
And pledge woe to them that refuse
Hopefully, we will find the garment
And Ghana will once again, soar in her raiment
God bless Ghana!! Long live Ghana!!!

BACK TO SCHOOL!!

Time seemed to have been creeping
But school soon reopened
We are smart enough to have been fraudsters
But we chose to go upstairs
Where brains can decipher,
Why “A” is alpha
Why a bad chemist pours water on acid
And expects a reaction any more placid
Why the social scientists sleeps
And yet their results manage to leap
The dilemma of a mathematician searching for X
Hoping it knocks on his door like fedEX
The overly-rated medical students
While the artists bear all the talents
Law students have their own flaws
Yet they think they know all the laws
There goes our engineer
Chasing us with his questionnaire
Historians try to make history
Scientists unravel the mystery
The lecture just got boring
Even the ladies are snoring
Battle for the best hall
Who will stand tall?
While the outside world prepares for Xmas,
We prep in the deep nights for exams
In the end, we will hail
All who escaped trail
Get awarded our degree
And continue life with glee
I’m proud to be a student
If you on this path too, do not relent!!!

THE BLAQBOI'S CREED!!!

I am that fragile egg you see
The gem many want to be
But what lies within my shell;
Only I could tell

I am that bird soaked in the rain
I manage to fly, so they don’t see my pain
Through it all, I still sing
For I know not what tomorrow would bring

I am that homeless butterfly
In your eyes, a colorful fly
Very feeble are my wings
I pray daily against strong winds

I am that ant on your pathway
Working hard each night and day
For a future I’m not assured
As life itself isn’t insured

I am that perfectly tamed lion
Protégé to the Great Orion
I betrayed my cold heart
But I’m still a distinct cat

I am a blend of all the above
Soaring in the skies like a dove
And as the earth pledges to revolve
The puzzle of life will I solve!!!
