WANDERING HEARTS THAT NEVER MET

Our tender hearts did love seize
In the silent nights with ease
The die was cast
I found one at last
When I blink
She would wink
In her eyes was the light
The light that shines so bright
Bright light that tamed my brutish soul
Beneath this light, my haven, my sole
One thing would make it certain
To affirm her thoughts, her version
I asked her out on a date
To which she did not hesitate

In my head, I rehearsed
Word by word, line by line
And a short prayer to Saint Valentine
As I handed her a Clementine
And so we sat on the sandy beach
Rumbling in my head, the golden speech
At last, on ma knees, I poured it all out
She looked away, she seemed to doubt
She turned back and she shivered
I can’t! I can’t!! she whispered
My heartbeat echoed as I heard
Indeed, we both yearned
I yearned for her and no other
She yearned too but for another!

THE END BEFORE IT BEGUN

I saw the end before it begun
So dark and yet so vivid
I  saw the usurper on the throne
Sentencing the masses to death by starvation
The land, swallowed by flood
From the tears of the innocent souls

I saw the end before it begun
I saw it bend unto the foe’s path
The wicked smiled and the gentle wept
Alas, the people had no say
I tried and tried to twist this fate
But in vain were my endeavors

What’s the virtue of a premonition,
If its outcome is inevitable?
If no effort of mine can defy the odds
And win me Glory’s favour,
Then what’s the worth of this vision?
So I hoist a white banner, symbol of truce
Hoping for a redemption I might never receive

To the spirits that make dreams;
Conceal from me the hard truth
Let me live in joyous oblivion
As the conspirators conceive their sinister rebellion
Allow my heart its peace until the epiphany
For the knowledge of defeat before its encounter,
Has carved a scar unto my soul!!!

I AM THAT I AIM; the me i know!

I am a young boy
But with a big ambition
You might notice I’m coy
But with time, I will make a transition

I am a Negro
You can’t take that away from me
Conspicuous skin like a limo
Resistant to the sting of a bee

I am a lover
And I love because I love
I will never hurt another
It’s my desire that all afford to laugh

I am a winner
And it’s all I’ve ever known
From my days as a beginner
I’ve learnt to walk alone

I am extraordinary
Aiming above the skies
I’m totally beyond imaginary
And unmoved by lies

I possess a brave heart
And so they call me THE LION
Agile and fearless is this cat,
That it won itself a medallion

INSPIRE ME!!!!

Give me a reason to live
Tell me why I should breath
At least, for a relief
Give me a reason why the night’s slumber shouldn’t last forever
For when finally, I am awoken,
I surely will need a shoulder to lean on
And a melody of soothing lyrics
To wash away the pain
And to make life a picnic
Once again, free from panic
Hope of assuredly, a better tomorrow

Take the speck off my eyes
So I could see crystal clear
And let the clouds pose for a toast
Against the will of the seasons
Let the sun and moon
Make unto me a solemn vow
That whenever I’m depressed,
They shall serve me a cause to smile
On a royal golden tray
A treat to keep me going

THE ABSURD POEM; for your amusement!!

It was in the season of winter in my homeland, Ghana
My landlord had paid his rent, oh, what an honour!
As warm as winter was, I set off through the snowy streets
Destination, Kumasi beach just for some fresh air
I laid topless on the green shores of the ocean
Soberly reflecting on my retrospective prospects
And hoping that the nice lady walking by, would fall to the ground
Just for my amusement
Peradventure, the spirits heard my thoughtful desires
She tripped and fell flat
With smiles on my face, the ‘inner-me’ whispered;
“couldn’t you have made a better wish?”
I stretched forth a helping hand
As if to atone for my dream come true
Oblivious of my thoughts, she deemed it a kind gesture
And then I saw the beauty in her eyes
Many men would be damned to let her slip through their fingers
But I whispered to myself;
“if only I had seen her clearer at the first glance….”
The inner-me retorted;
“what then would you have wished for”
I whispered back to myself;
“I would  have wished for her, a heavier fall and a counter effect
of loosing two of her teeth”
I watched my watch as I helped her up
Smiled at her and walked away without uttering a word
I heard her murmur behind me;
“what a kind but strange man”
Well, I got home safely
But as I reached for my pocket to get my keys,
I lost balance, fell flat and broke two of my teeth
And so, another wish became a distorted  reality!!!!
