I AM THAT I AIM; the me i know!

I am a young boy
But with a big ambition
You might notice I’m coy
But with time, I will make a transition

I am a Negro
You can’t take that away from me
Conspicuous skin like a limo
Resistant to the sting of a bee

I am a lover
And I love because I love
I will never hurt another
It’s my desire that all afford to laugh

I am a winner
And it’s all I’ve ever known
From my days as a beginner
I’ve learnt to walk alone

I am extraordinary
Aiming above the skies
I’m totally beyond imaginary
And unmoved by lies

I possess a brave heart
And so they call me THE LION
Agile and fearless is this cat,
That it won itself a medallion

INSPIRE ME!!!!

Give me a reason to live
Tell me why I should breath
At least, for a relief
Give me a reason why the night’s slumber shouldn’t last forever
For when finally, I am awoken,
I surely will need a shoulder to lean on
And a melody of soothing lyrics
To wash away the pain
And to make life a picnic
Once again, free from panic
Hope of assuredly, a better tomorrow

Take the speck off my eyes
So I could see crystal clear
And let the clouds pose for a toast
Against the will of the seasons
Let the sun and moon
Make unto me a solemn vow
That whenever I’m depressed,
They shall serve me a cause to smile
On a royal golden tray
A treat to keep me going

THE ABSURD POEM; for your amusement!!

It was in the season of winter in my homeland, Ghana
My landlord had paid his rent, oh, what an honour!
As warm as winter was, I set off through the snowy streets
Destination, Kumasi beach just for some fresh air
I laid topless on the green shores of the ocean
Soberly reflecting on my retrospective prospects
And hoping that the nice lady walking by, would fall to the ground
Just for my amusement
Peradventure, the spirits heard my thoughtful desires
She tripped and fell flat
With smiles on my face, the ‘inner-me’ whispered;
“couldn’t you have made a better wish?”
I stretched forth a helping hand
As if to atone for my dream come true
Oblivious of my thoughts, she deemed it a kind gesture
And then I saw the beauty in her eyes
Many men would be damned to let her slip through their fingers
But I whispered to myself;
“if only I had seen her clearer at the first glance….”
The inner-me retorted;
“what then would you have wished for”
I whispered back to myself;
“I would  have wished for her, a heavier fall and a counter effect
of loosing two of her teeth”
I watched my watch as I helped her up
Smiled at her and walked away without uttering a word
I heard her murmur behind me;
“what a kind but strange man”
Well, I got home safely
But as I reached for my pocket to get my keys,
I lost balance, fell flat and broke two of my teeth
And so, another wish became a distorted  reality!!!!

MIRAGE

There comes a time in a man's life when joy is simply out of reach
The same things that caused him hysterical laughter in moments past,
Bring him nothing but sorrow
No matter how huge his earnings, he still can't afford a smile
Moments when the heart gets itself entangled in the web of frustration
And the dormant soul awakes, only to find itself in the tempest
Cohesion that exists between the body and soul,
that binds the various parts into a whole
Falls apart like an outnumbered army
A time in a man's life that makes him wish he were never born
His mind and soul are set ablaze like the flag of a fallen colony
In moments like this, all that seemed so close appear to be very distant
Hopes of achieving lingers
Like a sprinter in the midst of cross country heroes
Your strength can't save you
The fire doesn't seem to burn
Neither does the sun seem to scorch
The trees refuse to bear fruits
And the fruits do not suffer their seeds to meet the earth
In such moments, we cast our minds back for causes
But the answers are just not there!!!

WHEN LOVE TURNS SOUR!!!

By sheer serendipity, our paths did meet
Amazing how none of us could alter a word
Perhaps, we communicated with our hearts
For these two hearts spoke a common language
And so we deemed it as destiny’s mandate
Our propensities for each other carved our shadows into `fraternal’ twins
If it wasn’t love, what then could it have been?
Blinded by our loves, we settled for an oath
And made wishes for the melodies of our hearts to be unending
But time said nay; time had diverse wishes
For no fault of ours, harmony departed
And cacophony was now our hearts tune if our eyes did align
And so to what shall our undying love merit,
if it only existed in the eyes of onlookers
Why do we deny ourselves joy by pretending to to be joyous
We made this love
But can we afford to unmake it?
Maybe we should hold on to it
Perhaps, our stray hearts may grow fond again
Harmony might walk back to us
And bind what we lost in this journey
I pray it does not tarry
And I hope you do too
For better or worse
I am truly not ready to walk this path alone!!!

GARMENT OF HOPE

Day by day and night by night, he ignored rest
For the task ahead seemed to him, a puzzled quest
A sober decision to make life meaningful
A conscious effort to soar above all
Deliberately blinded, refuses to see failure
Deprived in the sight of men but spiritually equipped
Persevering spirit of a father and humility of a mother
Both of whom he never saw
Many wished for a bit of his prodigy in their offspring
But none wished to take him as a son
He never seemed perturbed
But like every mortal, tough moments came
Why do i weep?
He often asks himself
And immediately, bursts into hysterical laughter, the perfect panacea
You will always find him in his torn shirt
"MY HELP COMES FROM ABOVE", boldly written behind
As tattered as it seems,
He proudly refers to it as The Garment Of Hope!!!!

DESTINY

Should we accept whatever life offers,
bearing in mind that everything happens for a reason?

Should we fold our arms and watch our desires unfold,
believing tomorrow isn't ours to deal with?

Will we fulfill life's purpose by simply having faith?

Perhaps, all happenings are driven by a certain supernatural force,
and the destinies of men, predetermined.

Do our efforts then matter?

Try twice as much while the next man slumbers,
yet in his wake, he executes with ease.

Some trip and fall in broad daylight,
on the same path others trod through the dark nights.

Many toil in search,
yet never find that which others are naturally endowed.

For the things I couldn't see with my eyes widely opened,
another man found in his dreams.

I've heard men say,
"the unfairness is natural; it's necessary for the balance".
The unfairness is fair!

Let Destiny have her way then,
the commander in realms unknown.

Spinning each man along the edge of the wheel,
one to his fortune, another to his doom.

Tick, tick and tock,
we skip a tock if Kismet dictates!
